Head of Content

More Details

ROLE: Head of Content (office in northern SF, remote okay)

Who we are: Healthy Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture capital (VC) fund focused on healthcare tech. Our small but mighty team is committed to improving healthcare for everyone by backing entrepreneurs with singular solutions, wicked smarts, and nonstop tenacity.

How our business works: We find investors (called limited partners or LP's) who invest with us so that we can, in turn, invest in terrific company founders. We raise the capital up front in a fund and then invest in ~20 companies per fund. We then own enough of each company that we frequently sit on the companies’ boards of directors and spend a lot of our time helping them grow, fundraise, hire, and manage their businesses.

Who you are: A great communicator who thrives in envisioning and producing great content. You live in the world of compelling words, visuals, and stories. Without anyone telling you why, you have an innate knack for what type of content would be interesting - and how it should be best presented. You have a Superman strong ear for language and keen sense of how to best connect with various audiences. You've earned your living by deciphering tone of the written and spoken word. As such, you're a natural ambassador to shape and share our investment team's thoughts with the broader market.

Your mandate: You will own the whole spectrum of our firm's content production to reinforce relevance and credibility for us in our ecosystem. We'll ask you to execute a plan to best hone various bodies of thought to different audience segments including: investors who invest in our fund, fellow VC's who invest alongside or after us, company founders, operating leaders in the health tech space. You'll spearhead initiatives to foster connectivity across our community. This entails driving both the content and form-factor that best support things like: forums for robust thought exchange among company founders, quarterly investor updates that typically are as dry-as-whole-wheat but, in your hands, are shockingly delightful to read, and titillating morsels  parsed out via social media accounts.

Example workstreams:

  • Draft and customize quarterly update newsletters to be distributed to fund investors and relevant external parties
  • Collaborate with fund partners to envision and produce interactive large group sessions (both virtual and in-person), as well as produce graphic collateral supporting the events
  • Create compelling copy (text and graphic) that strikes the perfect balance of professional/competent and differentiated/edgy
  • Oversee the re-design of firm's website, by managing third-party designers and developers
  • Brainstorm for themes of white papers, bring them to production grade-level, and creatively distribute across multiple platforms
  • Coordinate with the firm's operations manager to leverage the firm's CRM and databases to ensure the right content is reaching the right eyes

Experience:

  • Strong background in "business communications" - be it in corporate communications or consumer-facing copy
  • Facility with basic media production tools like Powerpoint / Keynote, Sketch, photo editing software like Photoshop or similar
  • Familiar with teleconferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, MS Team
  • No specific number of 'years of experience' is required. We're a small, lean team that requires each member to be self-starting, adaptive, and high-energy in disposition. The latter matters a whole lot more.
  • You do not need prior experience with venture capital.
